The LRLF's Development Department conducted a successful entry level sports teachers rugby league coaching course in Akkar, north Lebanon on Wednesday. Department head Remond Safi led the course, supported by Nayef Abi Said and Hatem Hanna, who himself was qualified under the same system last year and who gained international experience last month with the Junior Cedars.
Safi said: "the sport is getting it well known around Lebanon more and more demand for rugby league in the schools, it was great to see the new teacher from different schools all participating in the course . This region is soon to have its very first championship in May with the following schools below all having representative sides also the Tripoli region will start there championship next week. "
The schools who attended were Matronie Orthodox Akkar, Modern School Miniara, Lycee Abdallah Rassi School Akkar, St Joesph Miniara, Fnadek Club, Koubayyat High School, Hrar High School, Bebine High School, Bouyrayal High School, Jdayde Kayteh Akkar, Khouraybet Aljunoh Akkar, Sir School.
The Beirut area is due to hold a course this month, in partnership with the Ministry of Education.
