Defending Bank of Beirut Rugby League Champions Jounieh will not make the play-offs this season after the LRLF stripped the club of four points for bringing the game into disrepute following their controversial walk off in Saturday's 22-0 defeat to LAU in Bhamdoun.
In a statement, the LRLF said: "The act of walking off the field in protest can seldom be defended and such an act strikes at the very fabric of the game and the respect that must be directed towards the match officials and their inviolable right to control a game. The LRLF feels that this act has caused significant damage to rugby league's reputation."
For his part in the incident and events that led up to it Jounieh's Lebanon international Ghassan Dandach has been suspended for a total of 5 matches:
- 2-match penalty under sub-section (h) Leaving the technical area - reaching the fracas.
- 3-match penalty under sub-section (f) Foul or abusive language towards a match official.
