MATCH REPORT:

Liban Espoir maintained their one hundred per cent record to lift the Bristol 9s trophy after a convincing win against the Warriors in the final. Four different Balamand players conspired to score all of Lebanon’s four tries, two in each half, with AUB fullback Wassim Moumneh kicking two of four dropped goals, taking his tournament tally to an impressive twelve of sixteen.

Wing Najy Bassil scored the first try, completing a four man move after taking AUB second row Bassel Rehayem’s well timed final pass. Gilbert Haydamous then rounded off another wide movement to give the visitors’ a 10-0 lead at the break. Gloucestershire hit back in the second period but Lebanon restored their two try lead when Hassan Taha broke through from 40-metres out. Man of the tournament Alan Sultan fittingly scored the final try to secure the trophy and round of the tour on a successful note.
