Tomorrow heralds the ultimate clash of the 2008 World Cup Qualifiers, as Lebanon face Samoa in the 10th place playoff final. The match promises to be a classic battle when it kicks off at 7:30pm GMT at the Chris Moyles Stadium, home of Featherstone Rovers; near Pontefract, Yorkshire, England. Lebanon’s preparations have been helped by the three-match prelude to this crucial fixture; those versus Russia, Ireland and Wales. The performance against Wales finally showed a side clicking to showcase Lebanon’s attacking flair. However, the downside of this extended campaign has borne a weighty toll. New players who arrived post the Ireland fixture have slotted in well, but there are still injury concerns regarding at least two key players. There is even the possibility of another substitute arriving from Australia prior to kick-off. On the flip side, Samoa have an injury free line-up, with numerous faces from the NRL and Super League available to supplement the squad which faced and overcame the U.S.A. with relative ease. However their lack of warm-up games combined with new faces could reveal an underprepared side with an unknown level of team-empathy. The match will be televised live throughout the Middle-East on Showsports 3, Europe on Sky Sports 3, and possibly Australia on Fox Sports (TBC).
