A depleted but spirited Wolves RLFC fought bravely against a physically more powerful Al-Galacticos outfit in Bhamdoun on Saturday afternoon, finally relenting in the second half due to a lack of bodies. The Wolves, fresh from their maiden win last week were missing a host of regulars and suffered a slew of injuries but managed to hold the two-time defending champions to a two-point lead at the break.

Veteran Jounieh fullback Pierre Nasr, who was been in splendid form so far this season, showed his class in the second half, amassing a 22-point haul while Lebanon international Ghassan Dandash chipped in with a pair of tries as the black and golds put themselves in prime position to make an assault on Balamand, who have held second spot since the opening round. With the northerners facing LAU on Friday and Jounieh set to repeat against the Wolves they may well swap positions in seven days, giving the table a familiar look. LAU has topped the table for the past two seasons, trailed by Jounieh.
