The Immortals booked their customary place in the post-season with a fifteen try slaughter of USJ, who have yet to win in 2010. This, their fourth successive loss, means they cannot lose another match if they maintain any hopes of repeating last season’s semi-final berth. To recover they will need to get back some of their eight injured first-teamers, while coach Wael Harb will hope that the grit shown by a handful of his charges in the face of the unstoppable Green Machine can be carried over for the rest of what has been a testing campaign.

No such worries for LAU, although the possible loss of utility Ibrahim Ballout with knee ligament damage for the rest of the season put a black mark on the 22nd consecutive regular season win.

USJ put up a brief spell of resistance – but as any good practitioner of the cliché will tell you, resistance is futile. After Harb’s 14th minute try in the corner cancelled out Hassan Chahine’s 10th minute opener LAU burst open the floodgates, with Karim Jamal leading the way with a hat-trick of four-pointers.

The second half at times deteriorated into farce, with LAU players literally laughing out loud as the Saints, unable to challenged their opponents, squabbled amongst themselves.
